Our Multifunctional Therapy Unit is the tool you need to provide the ultimate therapy while preventing possible injuries to the treating therapist AND saving your company thousands of dollars!
The Multifunctional Therapy Unit has been used in European countries for over30 years. The MTU provides support for your patients giving you the freedom to guide and promote proper positioning and alignment. Giving you the tools to provide the best therapy available for your patients!
The MTU can help to promote motor learning as well as develop a sense of security and success. The patient will overtime be more independent in therapy and self-confidence will improve greatly!
As the cost of therapy continues to sky rocket, we continue to seek innovative avenues to help our patients seek and afford the therapy they deserve. A patient who would require two therapists or staff members, can be treated effectively with one therapist, saving your company money as well! The support system the MTU provides will also prevent possible injuries to the treating therapist as they are left to guide the patient instead of providing total support.
The Multifunctional Therapy Unit consists of a system of pulleys, harnesses, and bungees. The possibilities are endless with this unbelievable support system. Weights can be used to increase resistance as harnesses and sandbags hold the
patient stable, which will allow therapist to target specific muscle groups. As you add additional weights to the load you strengthen muscles. With your patient totally supported you guide perfect alignment and push the stretch to the limit, improving flexibility and decreasing spasticity!
The unique piece of therapy equipment is safe, easy to use, and durable. When you combine the MTU in a system of 2 or more, you can treat up to 3 patients in close proximity with one supervising therapist; in turn, saving you money!

Stretching: A MTU is a great way to provide an incredible gravity assisted stretch which patients, especially children or those with spasticity respond very well to. Utilizing the suspension cords, limbs can be held in positions to provide a sustained, consistent stretch without the therapist having to hold the limb. This is been very successful in many clinics.
Strengthening: The MTU utilizes pulleys and weights that can be combined with harnesses to isolate specific muscles. Because of the design of this equipment, there are almost endless possibilties of positions and movements that can be resisted or assisted to strengthen weak muscles. The pulleys can also be used to improve active and active assisted ROM (Range of Movement).
Balance/ Functional Skill Enhancement: One of the incredible uses of the MTU is to support the patient with bungees attached to a belt similar to a weight training belt. This can provide patients the opportunity to perform activities with less assistance by the therapist, and for many with no assistance from the therapist. The independence and success the patient receives by performing activities with the assistance of the bungees, encourages the repetition that is needed for them to learn the skill they are practicing. The bungees can also be set up as resistance during activities. This allows the same activity to be easier when the bungees are removed. What a great confidence builder! Therapists love this component of the Multifunctional Therapy Unit!
